THE SCHOOL YEAR FOR PRIMARY CLASSES

Term One starts in September and ends with the Christmas holidays.
Term Two starts in January and ends with the Easter holidays.
Term Three starts after the Easter holidays and ends at the end of June with the summer holidays.
Day one of each term starts at 8h30am and the last day of each term and mid-term ends at 15h30pm .

PRE-SCHOOL, NURSERY AND CRÉCHE CLASSES

The above classes are always open except during the month of August and Portuguese public holidays. Any further holidays may be negotiated with the parents.

Arrangements may be made for the Crèche to be open during August, depending on the availability of the staff and parental requests.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMME

The academic programme at Escola Internacional da Madeira is designed to provide the pupils with courses that will optimise their potential and prepare them for future studies.
To graduate from Escola Internacional da Madeira, pupils must successfully complete courses in English, Portuguese, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Reasoning and Computer Education. Enrichment courses consisting of Music, Art and Physical Education are also a part of the curriculum.
Pupils will be provided with opportunities to participate in charitable programmes within the community and the school.
