THE SCHOOL YEAR FOR PRIMARY CLASSES

Term One starts in September and ends with the Christmas holidays.
Term Two starts in January and ends with the Easter holidays.
Term Three starts after the Easter holidays and ends in the first week of July with the summer holidays.
Day one of each term starts at 9:00am and the last day of each term and mid-term ends at 1:00pm.
A strict record is kept of arrival and departure times and noted on the pupils' reports.

THE SCHOOL YEAR FOR THE NURSERY CLASSES

The nursery is always open except during the month of August and Portuguese public holidays.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMME

The academic programme at Escola Internacional da Madeira is designed to provide the pupils with courses that will optimise their potential and prepare them for future studies.
To graduate from Escola Internacional da Madeira, pupils must successfully complete courses in English, Portuguese, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Computer Education. Enrichment courses consisting of Music, Art and Physical Education are also a part of the curriculum.
Pupils will be provided with opportunities to participate in charitable programmes within the community and the school.
