Apart
from teaching English and Portuguese on the higher level as First
Languages, Mathematics, Information Technology, Science and Social
Studies are all taught to all children in both languages. Enrichment
courses such as Art, Music and Physical Education, with swimming
as an option, form part of the curriculum.
In
order to pass from Primary 4 into further education at Portuguese
or overseas schools, pupils have to attain an average of 50% through
cumulative tests as well as end of year examinations at Escola Internacional
da Madeira. Over the years some of the countries to which our pupils
have moved have been: France, Italy, Germany, mainland Portugal,
Switzerland, Austria, England, Scotland and South America. All reports
about their progress have been outstanding.
EXTERNAL EXAMINATIONS
All Primary 4 pupils write the standardised National Portuguese examination,
PROVAS DE AFERIÇÃO in Língua Portuguesa and Matemática.
The International School of Madeira also belongs to the Federation of European Schools and our Primary 4 pupils write the external standardised English first Language examination.
All subjects are taught through the aid of the INTERACTIVE WHITE BOARD, on a daily basis. |
