All parents, relations and friends, as well as tourists are most welcome.
After the concert, Father Antonio will receive the "Toys for Joy" from our children and he will then distribute them amongst local orphanages.
On behalf of the pupils and staff of EIM I would like to wish all visitors to this site, a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Visit to Universo de Memórias

| |
07/01/2005
|

Equipped with snack bags and their crayon and felt pencil tins, our Primary pupils excitedly crossed over the road, accompanied by two teachers, to a wonderful guided tour of the Universo de Memorias. They started off by looking at the display of all the "Presépios" (Christmas cribs), which had been hand-made in different towns in Madeira.
This was followed by further exposure to the interesting history of Madeira and ended with outdoor activities and work sheets.

Dr Francisco Fernandes, the Secretary of Education for the Autonomous Region of Madeira, joined us at the INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MADEIRA, during our final assembly for the year 2005/2006. He took a great interest in the children's musical and dramatic recitals and after reading one of his books to them, he encouraged them to ask questions. Dr Fernandes then went on a tour of the school, which was followed by refreshments with the staff and the board.

EIM Graduation - Guest of Honour - Dr Francisco Fernandes
|
| |
30.06.2006
|
| |
At our graduation the Primary children put on a Mozart play which was written by Thelma Teixeira, the principal. Mozart music was played on the violin, the recorders, the percussion instruments and CD back ground music at appropriate times. The costumes provided by the parents were in period style and absolutely magnificent. The children's performance was brilliant, bearing in mind that some were speaking their 2nd or 3rd language.
This was followed by the Pre-school´s variety of songs, poems and dramatisation of the Three Little Pigs. They were delightful.
The Graduation then took place. The Nurseries were crowned and Preps were capped as they graduated to Prep and Primary, respectively. Inês Quintas, our Primary 4 pupil graduated with Honours into Primary 5 and into the Second Cycle.

On Friday, 11 April, EIM will have the annual Easter Games in the garden. The children are painting eggs and making and decorating baskets in which they will collect their Easter eggs that the Easter Bunny hides in the garden each year. This is one of the high-lights of our year and always proves to be a wonderful, fun-filled morning.

On 27 June Escola Internacional da Madeira celebrated the End of Year Graduation Concert. The graduants were Inês Quintas, Carolina Silva and Freddie Bayntun.
The teachers did a splendid job of decorating the Library and preparing the children for the event.
A delightful concert was enjoyed by all the parents, grand-parents, relations and friends. Thanks to all our enthusiastic and friendly parents, this was followed by a superb barbeque in the garden.
